付敏跃，IEEE Fellow，IFAC Fellow，IEAust Fellow， CAC Fellow。现为南方科技大学系统设计与智能制造学院讲席教授。1982年毕业于中国科技大学自动化系并获首届郭沫若奖，分别于1984年和1987年美国威斯康星大学(University of Wisconsin-Madison)电气工程系获得硕士和博士学位。1987年就职于美国韦恩州立大学(Wayne State University)电气工程系担任助理教授，1989年起就职于澳大利亚纽尔卡斯大学电气工程与计算机学院，2002年晋级为教授，2010年为讲席教授，1998-2013期间多次担任学院院长（共七年多），2003-2011年担任澳大利亚复杂系统与控制国家研究中心（Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence）副主任。先后担任过日本东京大学、美国爱荷华大学、新加坡南洋理工大学、山东大学客座教授，和浙江大学、华南理工大学、广东工业大学百人计划教授。在国际杂志和会议期刊上发表论文500余篇，H-因子57，它引15000余次，承担了澳大利亚国家自然科学基金20余项、中国自然科学基金科重点项目2项，外专项目1项。
