On December 25, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Chengdu. SUSTech Acting Vice President (Research) Zhao Yusheng signed the deal with Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture & Tourism Deputy Director and Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage Director Wang Yi.

Both sides will conduct archaeological research and protect cultural heritage. This cooperation agreement reflects the increased prominence of SUSTech’s development in scientific and technological archaeology when it comes to the study and protection of cultural heritage.

Following the signing, both sides had in-depth discussions that resulted in them agreeing to rely on SUSTech’s disciplines to introduce different scientific and technological means to help the Sanxingdui Ruins in Sichuan Province.

In the future, SUSTech will work with the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Cultural Heritage to leverage the competitive advantages of each party to explore cutting-edge topics in archaeology and cultural heritage. They will conduct in-depth research into the ancient cultural heritage and anthropological resources across the Sichuan region while determining new methods of protecting and promoting the ancient civilization and its relics. Both parties will support each other through cooperation while encouraging major cultural heritage projects.
