BASIC INTRODUCTION:
Dr. Zhan Tian now is a Research Professor of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology. He had more than fifteen years working experiences in climate change impacts analysis, and adaptations and mitigations policy designs and implementation. After MSc and PhD studies on Climate change science and policy in Chinese Academy of Sciences (PhD) and China Agriculture Academy of Sciences (MSc), He began his career as a government scientific-official at Shanghai Meteorological Bureau in 2006 and his post was created as a talent-hiring initiative of the Bureau. In the same year, he was awarded the prestigious Global Change Visiting Scientist Fellowship of the START International, and visited the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria, a top rank international institution in climate change research. Since 2008, he has published 44 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals. He has also been a leading contributor to 11 highly influential policy reports and policy briefings. He has been the Principal Investigator (PI) of 1 Ministry Science and Technology of People’s Republic of China,6 National Science Fund of China (NSFC) funded projects, 4 UK government (China Prosperity and Newton funding) projects, 3 climate change special projects of China Meteorological Administration, 2 Energy conservation and emission reduction projects in Shanghai. He was the coordinator of more than 50 scientists in organizing interview activities for drafting the East of China Regional Climate Change Assessment Report. These achievements have made him one of the leading authors in the field of climate change research in China.
