Dr. Qiang-Shuai Gu graduated from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree and obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2013, under the supervision of Professor Dan Yang. From 2014 to 2016, he conducted postdoctoral research in Professor Dan Yang's group at HKU. From 2016 to 2017, he was a visiting scholar and later a research assistant in Professor Xin-Yuan Liu's group at SUSTech's Department of Chemistry. From 2017 to 2024, he served initially as a Research Assistant Professor and later as a Research Associate Professor at the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies at SUSTech. Since 2024, he has been an Associate Researcher and Group Leader at the Shenzhen Grubbs Institute of SUSTech. Dr. Gu has long been engaged in research on asymmetric catalysis and the synthesis of bioactive molecules, particularly in the field of radical asymmetric catalysis. With his coworkers, he developed a "copper and chiral multidentate ligand" catalytic system, achieving highly enantioselective functionalization of heteroatom and σ-type carbon radicals. Dr. Gu has published nearly 30 papers as (co-)first author or (co-)corresponding author in major journals such as Nature Chemistry (3), Nature Catalysis (2), Journal of the American Chemical Society (1), Angewandte Chemie International Edition (5), CCS Chemistry (1), Accounts of Chemical Research (1), and Chemical Society Reviews (1). He has been selected as a Class B Talent in Shenzhen's Overseas High-Level Talent "Peacock Plan." Additionally, he was awarded the First-Class Prize of the Natural Science Award of Guangdong Province in 2023 (second place).
