Position: Assistant Professor
Enza MIGLIORE, Assistant Professor of the School of Design at Southern University of Science and Technology, is a design researcher and educator in the field of product and materials. Her focus is on the interdisciplinary collaboration between Materials Science, Design, and Art, and on practices of Experimental and Critical Design. After obtaining her MSc in Industrial Design at La Sapienza University of Rome, MIGLIORE obtained a Ph.D. in Design and Innovation from Seconda Università of Napoli with a thesis on the hybridization of methods and tools of Design and Materials Sciences applied to material porosity. MIGLIORE collaborates with chemists to envision new materials’ scenarios, meanings, opportunities, and knowledge. MIGLIORE has been awarded a Post-Doctoral Research fellowship by the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MIUR). Her investigation (2017-2019), conducted at Metropolitan University of Tokyo, is about a critical perspective on materials and exhibited at Tokyo Designart 2019. MIGLIORE has been a design tutor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in 2020 and, before that, a lecturer and teaching assistant at Universities in Italy, Japan, and China. She has been member of the editorial board of the academic journal diid (2013-2019). She is guest researcher at IPCB (Italian National Research Council), at Hybrid Design Lab, at the FoamLab (Federico II University of Naples); a design director at the Architecture Studio Atelierba in Shanghai and a writer for the Tokyo web magazine ADF.
